Induction Criteria

The Selection Committee of the New Jersey Women's Hall of Fame carefully reviews all nominations submitted. Nominations may be made at any time during the year; however, the committee typically makes its final selection of inductees by July of the preceeding year. The induction ceremony typically takes place in March of each year.

Inductees have to be from New Jersey or must have strong ties to New Jersey. The committee carefully reviews all nominations, performs additional research if necessary, and conducts interviews. Inductees are selected from a variety of industries such as corporate, health, civic rights, education, sports, government, nonprofits, etc. The New Jersey Women's Hall of Fame inducts women, both historical and contemporary, who have:

• Made invaluable contributions to society
• Elevated the status of women
• Made enduring contributions to their fields of endeavor
• Inspired others by their example
• Embodied the YWCA's mission of eliminating racism and empowering women within their own lives and communities
