Sr. Lillian Harrington, MPF (Class of 2012)
President
Villa victoria Academy

Sr. Lillian Harrington, Villa Victoria Sister Lillian Harrington is a member of the Religious Teachers Filippini, a Religious Order founded in Italy in 1692 for the purpose of educating young girls and women, especially the poor. A guiding principle of the Religious Teachers Filippini is that the education of women leads to a stronger family unit and, as a result, society flourishes. Over the years, the Community has expanded its educative mission to include both boys and girls.

Sr. Lillian is currently the President of Villa Victoria Academy, located in West Trenton. Villa Victoria Academy is a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for girls in grades pre-kindergarten through twelve and is one of two academies owned and operated by the Religious Teachers Filippini.

In addition to working at Villa Victoria Academy, Sister Lillian’s long-time involvement with Martin House demonstrates her love for the children of Trenton’s inner city. She worked with Father Brian McCormick to establish the first Martin House summer camp in the 1970s and served as a member of the Board of Directors at Martin House for over ten years.

For over forty years and counting, Sister Lillian has worked to develop smart, strong, confident women leaders at Villa Victoria Academy. Before her role as President, Sister Lillian served Villa Victoria Academy as teacher, coach, vice-principal, and principal. On a daily basis, Sister Lillian Harrington influences the lives of the young women entrusted to her care by modeling the gifts of fidelity, generosity, and humbleness. Her innovative thinking and strategic planning have led to facilities and programs that prepare and empower young women to embrace a global perspective, to uphold the dignity of each individual, and to influence the world in a truly Christian manner.

She holds a B.S. degree in education from The College of New Jersey and an M.S. degree in biology from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.

Sister Lillian hopes that future generations of smart, strong, young ladies will develop into confident leaders and influence the world in a truly Christian manner.
