Welcome to the New Jersey Women's Hall of Fame!
We created this virtual hall in order to showcase the remarkable accomplishments of New Jersey women. The YWCA, the largest women's organization in the world, is dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women. It is this mission that has been the guiding principle for creating local progarams that inspire and motivate young women, the leaders of tomorrow.
The New Jersey Women's Hall of Fame is dedicated to recognizing and preserving the remarkable history of the past and celebrating the milestones of today. It is our goal to ensure that the remarkable achievements of New Jersey women will never be forgotten.
As you visit our hall of fame, we hope that you, too, will be inspired by the incredible stories of courage, determination and good will. These are the great stories of the great women who help shape New Jersey.
The YWCA Trenton is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

Since its inception over one hundred years ago in 1904, the YWCA Trenton has been living its mission of eliminating racism and empowering women in New Jersey's Capital City. |
| Today, the YWCA continues that same tradition through its many youth services, including day care and preschool programs, summer camp, and after school programs. | |
Our residence, Dunham Hall, houses 90 formerly homeless women, many who are victims of domestic violence. We empower women though our job search and placement center, the Latinas Unidas program, and our English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. We raise awareness about racism through our Stand Against Racism initiative, which has now reached a national level and has attracted well over one quarter million participants in an effort to end racism in our communities. The New Jersey Women's Hall of Fame was created by the YWCA Trenton in 2011 in order to honor and recognize the accomplishments of women across all industries in New Jersey.
In a long tradition of honoring women from New Jersey's Capital City, the YWCA Trenton aims to recognize and celebrate outstanding women. Inductees into the New Jersey Women's Hall of Fame are women who have made invaluable contributions to society, have elevated the status of women, have made enduring contributions to their fields of endeavor, have inspired others by their example, and have embodied the YWCA's mission of eliminating racism and empowering women within their own lives and communities.
The New Jersey Women's Hall of Fame invites members of the public to nominate extraordinary women for induction. Nominations are accepted online from either organizations or individuals.
Every year, the YWCA Trenton's Committee of the New Jersey Women's Hall of Fame, will review and select nominees to be formally inducted into the hall. Inductees are typically announced during a press conference in September each year (for the following year) and are inducted during our Annual Induction Ceremony Gala, which takes place in the spring every year.
Inductees have to be from New Jersey or must have strong ties to New Jersey. The committee carefully reviews all nominations, performs additional research if necessary, and conducts interviews. Inductees are selected from a variety of industries such as corporate, health, civic rights, education, sports, government, nonprofits, etc. The New Jersey Women's Hall of Fame inducts women, both historical and contemporary, who have:
